Teaser: Training abroad - a series of articles by Vasylisa Ramsay

Published 05.05.2021, author Vasylisa Ramsay

Every dancer‘s path is different. And each path is a journey of inspiration.

With the arts currently «on hold», we are striving towards building a bridge to connect dancers and their audience all around the world.

In order to achieve this task we have asked our friend and Belarusian Ballet Academy graduate, Vasylisa Ramsay, to take us on a trip through all the schools, theaters, and countries she’s been fortunate enough to train and dance with.

This is truly an exceptional story from the inside that we hope you enjoy to read, as much as we’ve enjoyed listening to.

Vasylisa Page Ramsay - Belarussian State Ballet Academy graduate of 2020.

YAGP‘19 and YAGP‘20 Finalist.

Studied at Hamburg Ballet Academy and Moscow State Ballet Academy named after Lavrovsky.

Sharing the story of her training and inspiration around the globe. With each new article being published every two weeks.

London… Monaco… Amsterdam… New York… Moscow… Minsk… Verona…

The list of schools I’ve trained with goes on…

And I am incredibly grateful for having had the opportunity to experience the various techniques and traditions in ballet academies and theaters around the world.

Each school is unique in its own way, imbued with the details representing the country‘s culture and history.

The arms, gaze, turn of the head, the structure of each combination - are all shades of a single artistic style so different, but yet reflective of one another.

It is an art in itself to study these differences and a challenge to adjust yourself to them as a professional dancer.

For this very reason I have decided to share this journey with you, dear reader. Taking you on a tour around the world, giving you a small insight into the different schools and theaters I’ve been lucky enough to dance with.

Especially now, when borders are closed, and we, as artists, are limited to our own homes and studios, I find it important to share this inspiration in order for these memories to plant hope and faith into the heart of ballet…
