In the campaign, it was important for us to showcase what lies at the core of the collection: the audience only sees the polished performance, while the daily work remains behind the scenes. Every day, the ballet dancers put in tremendous effort, rehearsing from morning till night, often without rest days, sometimes having to do a dozen rehearsals for different performances during the day.
The photographs capture the ballet dancers' daily rehearsals. The repetitive nature of the movements is conveyed through the repetition of accentuated poses in the frame. Only the clothing changes as a marker of the passage of days. The never-ending work is interrupted by shots of brief breaks where the ballet dancer rests on the barre or lies on the floor.
As the photographer, we invited Alexander Yakovlev. He has been working with ballet dancers for many years and knows a lot about ballet behind the scenes.
We invited Ksenia Shevtsova as the model, a principal at the Moscow State Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre.
The ballet studio of Dance Secret was chosen as the location for the photoshoot, where hundreds of people daily explore the world of ballet, uncovering its curtains and learning the basics of dance.
